Are you interested in becoming a student of Iyengar Yoga? Do you have friends or co-workers interested in forming a small class? Rebecca Simmons teaches private and semi-private Iyengar yoga classes in Knoxville, TN from her boutique home studio.
- There are currently three semi-private winter classes with space for new students.
- Now booking for springtime private sessions and new semi-private groups up to six people.
- Enrollment for studio classes are based on an eight week series.
- Trial classes are encouraged for curious minds. Drop in students are not permitted.
- Payment is Venmo or cash. Paying up front per series is preferred, but not required if a student cannot be present at all planned classes in the series.
The studio is stocked with classic Iyengar Yoga props, mats, chairs, bricks, straps, bolsters and more – including a ropes wall!. Just bring yourself and an open mind to learn. The space is a detached garage behind Rebecca’s 105 year-old craftsman home, in South Knoxville. It’s a beautifully renovatated space with wide open oak doors, original breadboard walls and the original wooden ceiling.
Rebecca can also come to you for classes. This is perfect for schools, offices or community centers. As the former owner of Inner Space Yoga and Mediation Supply Company, Rebecca has a plethora of props she can provide and leave at your space for the weeks of class.

What does it mean to be a Certified Iyengar Yoga? It takes years of practice under an Iyengar yoga mentor. When your teacher agrees you are ready, the student has to undergo a rigorous certification process and pass in front a panel of nationwide senior Iyengar teachers. Read more here.
Rebecca is the only Certified Iyengar Yoga teacher in Knoxville. She takes weekly Zoom classes Abhijata Iyengar from Ramamani Iyengar Memorial Yoga Institute the home of Iyengar Yoga. In January 2025 she visited Pune, India and attended classes for 50th Anniversary or RIMYI. She also visited the birth city of BKS Iyengar to take a four day intensive with Prashant Iyengar at the Bellur Iyengar Yoga Center.
Rebecca has studies with many Iyengar teachers across the US and the world! Her mentor is Aretha McKinney in Nashville, TN. In 2014 she began studying with Cindy Dollar from Ashville, NC, who introduced her to senior teacher Chris Saudek in LaCrosse WI. Rebecca took her first ever Iyengar Yoga class in Atlanta in 2003. She began teaching yoga in 2015. She also holds a 500 hour certification through Yoga Alliance and can offer continuing education hours to teachers under the Yoga Alliance system.
