About the Blog

Simply Natural Mom is about mothering by intuition, from birthing babies to parenting children. It’s being organic by nature, by choosing whole foods and believing kids play better outside. It’s a throwback to childhood from the days of mud pies and the dinner bells. It’s about repurposing to be green and sewing to be practical, because our grandmothers did it and we can to – plain and simple.

On this blog you’ll find tips, stories, news, crafts, recipes and ramblings of all things natural, by a granola eating, do-rag wearing mom who loves her intown neighborhood too much to go live on a farm (which is probably where she belongs).

This blog is based in Tennessee, in a mid-size family friendly city that’s not quite urban but not quite rural. Occasionally you’ll see community happenings being featured here about some of the good old folks of East Tennessee who are an inspiration to be simply natural, and have been living this way long before anyone started calling it green.

2022 updates

I am now a co-owner of Inner Space Yoga and Meditation Supplies. Inner Space makes high quality, handmade yoga bolsters, mediation cushions and eye pillows. They have a national presence in the yoga and meditation community.

I’m very passionate about these products. They can eve be spotted on these blog pages in old posts where I profiled my family doing yoga together and in my home studio.

This new venture is perfect for me. I’ll be blogging on the Inner Space website, sharing about the benefits of yoga and using Inner Space products. I’ll be writing newsletters, managing social media accounts and pitching stories to the media. Sign up for the newsletter here. And buy some of our amazing products!

It’s also perfect because when the girls are out of school, we can still travel. Even in Covid times we have  been traveling as a family. We’ve been to Anna Maria Island FL, Aspen, CO, Hawaii and Belize since our Scandinavian trip in 2019. Next comes AMI for Fall Break and Canada for Christmas. I’m ready to embrace being a digital nomad and a modern woman business owner.

At home we are taking on new renovations and planning for when kids go to college. Our chicken coop and the remains of our urban homesteading days are getting moved to a neighbor’s house where a family with younger children will enjoy them again.

The sunflowers still grow by the back door but our 20 year old cat is no longer around to greet us. But we have a new cat! His name is Fred Baby. And yes he’s the baby of the family.
